KMBC is a not-for-profit collective developing, maintaining and protecting over 50km of signed single-track in the Kalamunda Trails network, just 40 minutes from Perth.

Whether you ride every weekend or simply want to give back to the outdoors community, there’s a place for you.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Trail Maintenance Days

Join our regular volunteer trail maintenance and dig days, no trail work experience required.

Typical tasks include:

  • Drain clearing

  • Trail repairs

  • Vegetation management

  • Feature maintenance

What to bring:

  • Enclosed shoes or boots

  • Water and snacks

  • Sun protection

  • Work clothes

Tools are provided (and usually a BBQ afterwards too!!).

Key Roles

President

Micro job descriptions

Description

The President is the principal leader of the KMBC club and has overall responsibility for the KMBC club’s administration.

Key Tasks

Sets the overall annual committee agenda (consistent with the views of members)

· Facilitate effective committee meetings, including AGM, to prioritize the club’s goals for the year.

· Coordinates the committee and key volunteer roles to achieve KMBC’s goals.

· Act as a facilitator for club/group activities.

· Represent the club/group at local, regional, state and national levels.

Time Commitment

2-3 hours a week. Attend all meetings and as many events as possible.


Treasurer

Description

The Treasurer should be a qualified accountant or bookkeeper who ensures the financial matters of the KMBC are in good order.

Key Tasks

· Prepare a budget and monitor it carefully.

· Keep the club’s books up to date.

· Keep a proper record of all payments made and monies received.

· Prepare simple financial reports for committee meetings.

· Produce an annual financial report.

Time Commitment

Low – 1-2 hours a month. KMBC has low transactions to track and report. Attend and prepare short financial reports for committee meetings and AGM.


Secretary

Description

The Secretary is the main administrator of the KMBC. This person arranges meetings, keeps minutes and ensures the club runs in accordance with its constitution and WA’s Unincorporated Associations Act.

Key Tasks

· Consult with the President and/or Chairperson to prepare agendas for club meetings.

· Send adequate notice of the meetings to attendees, collecting reports from office bearers.

· Call for and receive nominations for committees and other positions for the club.

· Take, write up, and promptly distribute minutes for each meeting & AGM.

· Maintain registers of members.

· Maintain files of legal documents such as constitutions, leases and titles.

· Act as the public officer liaising with the public, affiliated bodies and government agencies.

Time Commitment

1 hour a week to monitor KMBC email, prepare for and coordinate meetings.


Ordinary Committee Member

Help the club satisfy its governance obligations and, act as a representative of the riding community, play a part in setting the priorities that are in the best interests of the club.

Key Tasks

Required to attend a minimum of four committee meetings a year – three general committee meetings and the Annual General Meeting.

Time Commitment

Low – attend committee meetings.


Sponsor Coordinator

Attract trail and other sponsors to help fund club and essential trail maintenance activities, while advocating and promoting KMBC and mountain biking to the business and broader community.

Key Tasks

· Promote trail sponsorship. Source new sponsors and renew existing on an annual basis.

· Organise and install trail sponsors’ signs. 

Time Commitment

1-2 hours a month to response to sponsor enquiries, transact annual sponsorship renewals and new sponsor promotions with Treasurer. Do sponsor signs updates and replacement.


Trail Maintenance Coordinator

This one suits the keen hands-on person who loves building and maintaining trails, and wants to help to decide trail maintenance priorities and coordinate our awesome trail volunteers.

Key Tasks

· Work with the KMBC Committee to decide maintenance priorities (March to November).

· Manage the maintenance program.

· Use KMBC’s Facebook page to promote the monthly trail maintenance sessions.

· Host each maintenance session so it is enjoyable and purposeful for volunteers.

Time Commitment

Attend 1-2 committee meetings to set the maintenance priorities. Facebook posts to promote trail maintenance days. Attend each monthly session (7-9 days a year).


Trail Maintenance Volunteer

Give back to trails by attending one or more of our monthly trail maintenance sessions.

As well as meeting other members of our awesome KMBC community, you play a part in ensuring our trails are in their best riding condition.

Key Tasks

· Attend one or more monthly maintenance days, run by our Trail Maintenance Coordinator.

· Learn new skills and what is needed to maintain the trails.

Time Commitment

Low – Attend one or as many sessions each year as you wish. Trail maintenance days are fun, usually 4-5 hours and there is a BBQ after at the Calamunnda Trail Hub where you can socialize and meet fellow KMBC members.


Socials / Communications Coordinator

If you love social media we need help promoting the KMBC, mountain biking and the trail lifestyle we all enjoy. Help get the word out to ensure our community and those who want to join us are aware of what is happening and how to engage with the KMBC and our trails.

Key Tasks

· Coordinate communications required with the KMBC President and committee.

· Suggest and source Facebook and Instagram video and other content needed to promote mountain biking and how to participate in KMBC activities.

· Refresh, update then maintain KMBC’s website.

Time Commitment

Regular, but casual – At least fortnightly, Facebook and Instagram posts. Quarterly newsletters if time and desire to do so. Websites updates when needed.
